MindTap is the online learning platform that helps you craft personalized, engaging learning experiences that boost performance and deliver access to eBooks, study tools, assessments and student performance analytics — whether you’re teaching an in-person, online or hybrid course.
With Visible Body embedded into the Learning Path, students can access accurate visual representations, anatomically correct 3D models and immersive activities. This integration allows learners to grasp concepts efficiently while gaining real-world scientific experiences and practicing essential workforce skills. The use of augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality brings learning to life while:
Learn Its are 5–15 minute activities that pair concise narrative and multimedia with assessments to improve students’ conceptual understanding of difficult concepts.
Case Studies engage students with clinical scenarios and challenge them to higher-level understanding with auto-graded assessments.
Mastery Training (powered by Cerego) uses cognitive science principles to help students learn key terms faster and more effectively by utilizing retention, distributed learning and retrieval practice.
“MindTap allowed me to provide students with constant activities that they could engage in to earn course credit. The Mastery Training feature specifically [is] the most useful of these tools. In fact, Mastery Training is the reason that I will continue to use this product!"

As an instructor with a deep understanding of student challenges, Dr. Co’s approach puts the student at the center of the learning experience. She starts with a unique chapter on "The Art and Science of Learning in Anatomy and Physiology," then supports students with Student Study Tips and Learning Connections throughout the title.
“I learned that in Anatomy and Physiology practicing may look like teaching or explaining the material to someone else, drawing a structure or structures, writing out an explanation of a concept, recreating a graph with explanations, completing practice problems. I plan to apply these practice learning strategies to my study in this class.”
– Chapter 1 feedback of student from Seminole State College of Florida
To expand learning opportunities and ensure all learners are represented, Dr. Co set out to create an inclusive and diverse textbook in "Anatomy & Physiology" through diversity of images and models. Clinical examples detail the predispositions of certain racial and socioeconomic groups to display health care disparities. In addition, “average” values are paired with comparative data, where applicable.
Dr. Elizabeth (Liz) Co is Assistant Clinical Professor of Gross Anatomy, Human Physiology and the Physiology of Reproduction at Boston University. Extremely passionate about student learning support and study skills, Dr. Co has written this ground-breaking title to be clinical, conceptual and learner-centric. She serves on the HAPS (Human Anatomy & Physiology Society) learning objectives panel, is Committee Chair on Inclusive Pedagogy and Principal Investigator of Assessing Student Engagement and Efficacy of Remote Learning.
