SAM Assessment
helps evaluate students' proficiency at Microsoft® Office 2010 applications. Instructors can build custom exams with SAM to address how students will use Office 2010 beyond the classroom.
- Content for these hands-on, performance-based questions includes Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Windows, Internet Explorer, and Outlook.
- Includes thousands of objective-based questions from many Course Technology texts.
SAM Training
uses rich, engaging interactive learning methods to allow students to learn in the way that works best for them by reading, watching, or receiving guided help. Visual indicators let students know which tasks they've completed, allowing for hands-on training tailored specifically for them.
- Observe mode allows the student to watch and listen to a task as it is being completed
- Practice mode allows the student to follow guided arrows and hear audio prompts to help visual learners know how to complete a task
- Apply mode allows the student to prove what they've learned by completing a task using helpful instructions
SAM Projects
is an online, live-in-the application productivity tool that assesses a student’s ability to use Microsoft Office effectively. SAM Projects evaluate proficiency at completing Word, Excel, Access, or PowerPoint projects to effectively communicate, solve a problem, or make a decision. Students receive detailed feedback on their project within minutes. Instructors save time by not hand-grading projects and SAM ensures consistency of grading.

Additional Content Released December 2011!
SAM Path: SAM Path allows you to tailor training and post-exams to each student's needs, by providing you with the option to schedule a series of assignments that are contingent upon each other. To describe just one example: Exam > Training > Exam - When you assign a path this way, a student would take a "pre-exam" first. A training would then become available based on that pre-exam (your choice - training could consist of all tasks in the pre-exam or just those that the student got incorrect). The student would then have to complete the training before the "post-exam" would become available.
Integrated Digital Book (within the new MindTap Reader platform): Everything a student needs to succeed in your course is now in one place - SAM! The new integrated digital book option provides students with all the steps and information they need to complete their assignments without a bulky textbook to carry around. It also includes the series-specific Premium Video content, providing additional video reinforcement. Please note that this is an optional/additional purchase that can be added on to SAM...contact your sales representative for additional information!
Additional Projects: SAM Projects now includes 2nd scenario cases for comprehensive-level Excel and Access (mapped to the Shelly Cashman and New Perspectives series).
Grade Book: In the new SAM Grade Book, instructors can modify grades, weight assignments, and add grades from assignments outside of SAM. They can also view all assignments at a glance, making class administration much easier. Please note that Grade Book will be made available a few weeks after the initial December release.
