MindTap General Chemistry: Atoms First is a novel approach to teaching and learning General Chemistry. Unlike traditional online learning systems that treat textbook narrative as separate from the homework problems, MindTap seamlessly integrates manageable chunks of content with targeted exercises so students learn chemistry by doing chemistry. The Learning Path guides students through assignable readings, multimedia, and activities designed to follow the learning taxonomy from basic knowledge and comprehension to analysis and application. The atoms first organization introduces students to atoms and molecules earlier and delays math-intensive problem-solving to later in the semester. This gives students a stronger conceptual framework to help them succeed in the course. In addition, the narrative provides greater emphasis on the historical development of the atomic nature of matter and atomic structure.
