Rutas provides a robust foundation of grammar practice in the “Estructuras Esenciales” stage of the chapter. Estructuras Esenciales provides a thorough review of topics covered in introductory Spanish, as well as high-interest topics often left out of intermediate Spanish, such as the use of el voceo. Culture is integrated throughout the chapters in different ways, incorporating authentic activities and tasks, readings, videos and visuals. The Culture sections take students through the Spanish-speaking world, with themes related to the country or region and chapter theme.
