Teaching Tips: College Success Factors Index

College Success depends upon basic academic values and characteristics. How you manage your time, balance your life, and expect to perform, all affect your chances of success.

The College Success Factors Index will determine how you compare with other students in areas proven to be determinants of college success.

The CSFI tool is accessed online through ThomsonNOW, so students can take theassessment in a lab, their home, or anywhere there’s a computer. It includes 80 statements on eight areas that have been proven to correlate with college success:
• Responsibility and control
• Competition
• Task precision
• Expectations
• Wellness
• Time management
• College involvement
• Family involvement
