DR. JANELL CARROLL

Dr. Janell Carroll is an AASECT certified sexuality educator and a member of the faculty at the University of Hartford, where she has been teaching Psychology courses for over 25 years. Dr. Carroll has travelled the world exploring and documenting the wide cultural differences in sexual and gender practices around the globe. She has also authored several books, including a college-level human sexuality textbook, Sexuality Now: Embracing Diversity (now in it's 6th edition) and a popular press book about menstruation, When Aunt Flo Comes to Visit. An engaging and dynamic speaker and presenter, Dr. Carroll has been a featured expert on multiple TV, radio and social network sites. A graduate of Denison University and the University of Pennsylvania, she and her family live in Connecticut.

Dr. Carroll became fascinated by Psychology during her sophomore year of college. Like many people, her interest was sparked by a professor who, she recalls, “brought energy and passion to the classroom.” Soon afterwards, she began working on a research project with her professor and had it published, leading to graduate school and, eventually, the teaching of Psychology as a profession!
