Kelly Hinson
I am an Information Technology instructor with Gaston College in Dallas, North Carolina. I am the lead instructor for the Introduction to Computers course and I also teach Information Management Systems, User Support and Help Desk, Introduction to Programming and the capstone course for the Information Technology majors. I have been full-time faculty at Gaston for six years, and before that I was an adjunct for four years.
The majority of my classes are online, so when using digital products my focus is on what benefits they provide online students. I use SAM for the Introduction to Computers course and MindTap/MindLink through Blackboard for the Information Management Systems course. My students value the immediate feedback, instructional videos, training and the fact that everything is available on the student's schedule.
I earned my Master of Instructional Technology degree from Appalachian State University and my Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Clemson University. Prior to my career in academia, I worked as a programmer and programmer/analyst for six years and a code generator for a major insurance company.
