Hello. I am the Dental Assisting Program Director at Lawson State Community College in Birmingham, Alabama. I graduated from the University of Alabama, School of Dentistry, in the early 90’s and practiced dentistry for some years. After which I began my career in education. I have taught dental assisting and hygiene courses for over 20 years. I am passionate about learning, and the opportunities a good education can provide. As much as possible, I work to engage my students in their learning in an open environment.
   
Mindtap allows me to guide my students’ pathway in their learning. The end goal is to increase their learning and comprehension of complex concepts; case studies, material reviews and fast feedback all work together to expand learning. I also embed weekly assessments from MindTap into my Blackboard courses. MindTap is constructed so that my students take the assessment and get immediate results. I can set it up for multiple retakes at no penalty, or only one attempt. This has been a gamechanger for me. Today’s students expect learning with the aid of technology and Mindtap provides just that.
